                                                 WOODCARVERS OF LAS VEGAS

Our October meeting  was today and it was our LARGEST GROUP yet.  Thanks to Bob Pearce and his cottonwood bark demo.  We had a new total of 15 people and we hope all or most will return
to our group.
I think  our new members enjoyed learning a new craft and were able to take home a good start on their bark carving.

We were also again treated to another of Rod's great carvings of a lady and flowers.
And there are no words to describe another of  Mike's Celtic crosses., but to say BEAUTIFUL!

We will have to postpone Len's chip carving demo for now. He is  "back home in Indiana" and won't be back for a little while.
Hope to see you all next month .

March 2015 meeting -----------

On a record warm day here in Las Vegas we had another great monthly meeting at Woodworkers Emporium.

Our meeting consisted of  5 regular members, one visitor and one new member to our club. Welcome Devin Talley.

Rod informed us that he has been in contact with the gentleman from Montana ( I think) that brought a car full of basswood for sale to the November meeting. He is coming back to Las Vegas soon and would like to know if we are interested in basswood in any special sizes.  Rod said he has 6"x6 "and some 8"x8" basswood.  If you have any special orders email the club and we will pass it on to him for pricing or availability.

We were treated to four new finished projects.  The first two were done by Rod of a mule bust and a walnut horse bust (from wood he bought at the February meeting).

Not to be outdone we were also treated to Dennis's beautiful walnut rose.
