Todays meeting at "Wood It Is" had a nice attendance of 8 members.  Barry discussed his upcoming
class on carving an owl. The class will start at our meeting on the third Saturday of January, the 20th.
If you are planning to do this project you will need a 4"X4"X8" piece of basswood. This will take a while to complete and we will continue at every meeting until its completed.

Rod brought two of his Christmas projects and Jerry brought his new carved butter knife and spatula.

                                        WOODCARVERS OF LAS VEGAS

Our regular monthly meeting at Woodworkers Emporium was yesterday with nine members in attendance.

Barry, our expert bird carver, has offered to teach a class project.  After the first of the year all of those who want to participate will learn to carve an owl.  This is not a one meeting project and might be just the first of many projects.

Jerry shared his newly carved "VEGAS STRONG" sign. Nice job Jerry.

Also Liz shared her great progress in chip carving.  You would never believe a year she had not touched a knife.

Finally we hope you all read your email that we are changing our meetings at Woodworkers Emporium to the 3rd Saturday of each month. Same time 8:30-11:30.

For those of you that missed the last meeting at Wood It Is (like I did) here is Mike's "Sunny Ray"
carving with metal work.

See you next month.

We had our second meeting at "Wood It Is" this past Saturday.  We had 7 members in attendance with the return of Philip and Michael from their busy summer.  Welcome back fella's.  We started the meeting with birthday donuts , (from Jamie) for Len's birthday.  All was well until we sang.

Rod brought another walnut horse carving and one of his in progress lady's.

Barry and Dennis spent the whole time discussing bird carving.

And I had carved a men's full size fedora years ago and just finished a life size
man's head to display the hat on.
It was also brought up to see if we would like to all do this same project as a

learning/ challenge?  Lets think about a chip carving or something.

Hope to see you in 2 weeks at Woodworkers Emporium.
